Gorgeous lighting

In Chinatown, it will have a different theme for every Mid-Autumn Festival, and the lighting of Chinatown will also be specially made according to the theme. Take the Mid-Autumn Festival 2019 for example, the theme of Chinatown's Mid-Autumn Festival Lantern Festival is “Bicentennial Mid-Autumn Festival 2019”. To commemorate the 200th anniversary of Singapore’s opening, the lighting will be divided into three groups of lights, past, present, and future, combining traditional and modern themes. Light up the streets of Chinatown through historical landmark lanterns.

Lanterns

People traditionally prefer lanterns lit with candles, the material is mainly exquisite paper or more delicate coloured cellophane, and the inner frame is made of bamboo sticks or wire, making lanterns of various shapes such as cars and cartoon characters. But there are also plastic music lanterns with batteries. Everyone has their own preferences. On that day, everyone can bring their lanterns to Chinatown and walk with everyone else under the moonlight. Along the way, there are also dragon and lion dances, and the wonderful performances brought by the cheerleading team make everyone immersed in the atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Chinese Cultural Performance

Another exciting event in Chinatown is the stage performance during nighttime. The audience can enjoy the wonderful and exciting lion dance performance. Local and overseas singers will also sing the most popular Singapore folk songs (Xinyao) to the audience. In addition, there are also Chinese cultural entertainment programs and various dance performances too!
