Mid-Autumn Festival Customs: China

North:Playing with the Jade Rabbit

In ancient times, people believed that Chang 'e and the Jade Rabbit were living in the Moon Palace. The Jade Rabbit was molded into different shapes with adorable expressions using mud.

The Jade Rabbit then became the toys for children to play during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Now it has become one of the most representative Intangible Cultural Heritages of Beijing.
